The nearby farming and fishing communities all funnel their products to the [[East Bank Market]]. Ore from the mountains also finds its way into the market here. The water in the inlet near Lockport has a unique composition to support the growth of [[Starblood]]. While historically not much more than a novelty, the Imperial scientists dicsoverd that they can process the algae into a substance known as [[Starplasm]], a very potent energy source. Any attempts to cultivate the algae elsewhere have failed. Once a year, the [[Starwhal|Starwhals]] visit the [[Starwhal Inlet]] and it is thought that they somehow have a connection with the algae. The weeklong [[Star Festival]] is held to celebrate their arrival. [[The Falonian Empire]] recently built a factory, [[Starplasm Processing Plant]], on the edge of town to process [[Starplasm]] as well as a number of pools of cultivated [[Starblood]]. They had partnered with [[Metazon]] The local government grudgingly allowed this (not that they could have stopped it), though the general populace is real unhappy about this. They feel it is just the first step towards being a colonized nation - which it is. After the [[The Night of a Thousand Bombs]], the [[Falonian Millitary]] tightened its grip on the city, enforcing curfew and checkpoints.
