## `=this.Storyline` **`=this.Short`** > Date: **`=this.SessionDate`** | Players: **`=this.Players`** > Location: **`=this.Location`** | Game: **`=this.Game`** ##### Summary Wyrmhold was known far and wind for a dish called [[Frivl]], made with river worms. The meal was said to have aphrodesiac or euphoric qualities. It is also known for weapons made from Dead Glass and the protective Yintz rune. The history of the city is one of Imperial colonizers attempting to subdue the local populace. The emperor's people had the tables turned on them as the locals, along with some lizard people, destroyed their homes and made them the servants. As with anywhere else, this setup would not last as the [[The Falonian Empire]] would eventualy take this land. > [!NOTE]- Full Story > Before anyone else arrived, there were the [[Keepers]] who watched over the [[River of Souls]]. They called the area [[Vizen]], which translates to "Glistening Gate." The name was derived from the nearby was the [[Sea of Glass]], a desolate expanse of [[Dead Glass]]. [[Dead Glass]] was known for creating powerful, magical weapons. > > The [[Dead Glass]] attracted the attention of the [[Emperor Falon]]. He sent the [[Horenites]] to set up a mining operation. They set up their first settlement with ready made structures and unimaginatively called the town [[Glasshome]]. > > While the [[Keepers]] welcomed the newcomers at first, it became clear that the two groups were very much at odds. The [[Horenites]] created a slum district, [[Soulhome]], for the [[Keepers]]. > They chose to keep them at arm's length, placing the district across the river near the [[Silent Forest]]. > > The [[Keepers]] soon grew tired of being subjugated and started making moves to change the social structure of the town. They started a rumor that the dead would soon rise from the river. Their numbers started rapidly expanding due some enthusiastic breeding. They also built the [[Temple of Souls]] next to the [[Suicide Falls]]. > > They introduced the [[Horenites]] to the local delicacy, [[Frivl]] ("Slimy Worm") which the [[Horenites]] just called [[Frivl|Wyrms]] and was served at [[The Wyrm Hut]]. The [[Frivl]] fed off the bones at the bottom of the [[River of Souls]]. This cuisine quickly became all the rage because of its aphrodisiac properties, though it was also highly addictive (a fact that only came out later). [[The Wyrm Hut]] became known far and wide and attracted many adventurous culinary tourists. Since the [[Keepers]] were the only ones who knew how to harvest and prepare the [[Frivl]], the [[Horenites]] grew dependent on the [[Keepers]] and the social balance began to shift. > > Then came [[Frivlgar]] (Terrible Worm Season), a deadly heat wave that wiped out most of the [[Frivl]] population. [[The Wyrm Hut]] closed and tensions reached a boiling point. Fighting broke out and the [[Horenites]] were on the losing end of the conflict. Part of the success of the [[Keepers]] was the invention of [[Yintz]]. It was an ingenious combination of [[Dead Glass]], wood from the [[Silent Forest]] and a sigil that very few knew how to create. [[Yintz]] had protective properties and was used to safely navigate the [[Silent Forest]] and to make powerful [[Yintzite Armor]]. > > More newcomers arrived. The [[Slithers]] were a race of lizard people with magical blood, called [[The Ooze]]. They were known to cut off their own tails to harvest [[The Ooze]], knowing their tails would grow back. The [[Slithers]] came for the [[Frivl]], but were disappointed that the [[The Wyrm Hut]] was no longer open. They stayed in the area anyway, intrigued by the [[Keepers|Keeper]] belief system. They settled near the shuttered [[The Wyrm Hut|Wyrm Hut]] and named their [[Wyrm Hut|district]] after it. > > Seeing that the [[Slithers]] were becoming allies with the [[Keepers]] and desperate to regain some of their lost power, the [[Horenites]] kidnapped the Slither princess. They misplayed their hand, however. The [[Slithers]] slithered across the river one night and descended upon [[Glasshome]], slaughtering many [[Horenites]] and rescuing their princess. As a final act of retribution, they used [[The Ooze]] to create a giant sinkhole that swallowed up [[Glasshome]]. Water from the river rushed in and very little remained of the original settlement underneath the new body of water, [[Lake Glasshome]]. > > Some [[Horenites]] survived and were resettled in the [[Glasshome Labor Camp]] where they were put to work in the mines. Their labor was also used to construct [[The Hall of Souls]], an impressive ziggurat contructed of [[Dead Glass]] that served as the seat of government for the growing city. > > The [[Frivl]] began to regain their numbers, thriving in [[Lake Glasshome]] and all the [[Horenites|Horenite]] bodies at the bottom of the lake. [[The Wyrm Hut]] reopened. > >
