Grandfather sent me to Ferreland to study at university, but I became enamored of the underworld and demimonde life, took to thieving, and eventually quit school, at the university's insistence. **Vice Detail** I frequent the various pleasure palaces of Kelport, occasionally picking up extra coin for it. (Hedonism, baby!) **Looks** Wiry, almost androgynous, always smiling (smirking?) like he knows something you don't. Cillian Murphy, younger with longer, reddish-blond hair. No particular character, but I can get you a photo that's close. **Motivation** Says it's just for a lark, but deep down he resents the prejudice against Ferrelanders - after all, his father was a Ferrelander. (Note: This is the same character I've used previously, but I love him and his backstory so much. Let me know if it's a problem.) **Quirks** - Darius has trauma about being obsessed with [[Wilson]] - [[Lord Viselly]] had a dalliance with Darius as a sex worker --- > [!NOTE]- **Backstory** > Darius was born to a mother from a distant, “somewhere else” culture and a Ferrelander father—a sailor who never stayed long enough to truly belong anywhere. He was raised not by his parents, but in the household of his maternal grandfather, a respected merchant. Though his grandfather treated him kindly, others in the family saw him as a blemish—an unwelcome reminder of a foreign entanglement. > > Surrounded by wealth but never fully accepted, Darius grew up on the edges of respectability. It didn’t take long for him to drift toward the shadows of his homeland’s underworld—its pleasure houses, backroom deals, and illicit thrills. What began as curiosity turned into habit, then reputation. He became known for his charm, his daring, and his willingness to indulge in anything life had to offer. > > Eventually, his behavior became too visible—and too embarrassing—for the family to ignore. Whether as quiet exile or strategic relocation, Darius was sent to Ferreland, his father’s homeland, under the pretense of reconnecting with his roots. In truth, it was a way to remove him from scandal. > > In Ferreland, Darius found a different kind of life. Smaller, rougher, less indulgent—but still full of opportunity. He never fully committed to anything respectable, instead hovering around academic and social circles, posing as a casual student while making coin through theft, manipulation, and opportunism. He thrives in the in-between spaces: not quite noble, not quite criminal, but always adjacent to both. > > He frequents the limited pleasures of the dockside and whatever red-light life the city can offer, supplementing his income when needed and indulging whenever possible. To him, life is meant to be experienced fully—and shamelessly. > > Outwardly, Darius treats everything as a game. A lark. A chance to test his skills and enjoy himself. But beneath that charm lies something sharper. He’s aware of how Ferrelanders are treated, how they’re dismissed or controlled—and though he rarely admits it, that resentment runs deep. His father may have been absent, but that blood still ties him to this place. > > Now, as tensions rise and the call for resistance grows louder, Darius finds himself drawn in—not out of duty, but out of instinct. What starts as sport may yet become something more. > [!NOTE]- Associations > ![[MasterBase.base#Associations]]
