##### Story
**Background Detail**
Spent 20 years working as a detective in law enforcement, specifically focused on property theft. The outrageous and debauched callousness of the ruling classes whose things they protected led them to join (the resistance?) and use their institutional knowledge of the criminal arts to fight back against those same people.
**Vice Detail**
The images of notable incidents in the life they led before they were radicalized haunt them, and the only way they know how to deal with that trauma is to turn their brain off. They discovered (insert powerful downer here) after confiscating it and have been abusing it to shut down ever since.
**Looks**
I'm imagining someone lanky, with dark-ringed eyes, and an air that floats between determined and haunted. Striking eyes that were once brilliant. Nonbinary, but accepts any pronouns and never talks about it. I'm bad about matching mental pictures to actors. Are all of the people in this setting human or human-equivalent? If not, I might want to explore a nonhuman person.
**Motivation**
It's hard to determine a motivation that ties to the setting when we don't know what corner of it we're playing in. What the real stakes are. Also, sounds like the freedom fighter option won (not surprising.) I would like to know more before answering this. I will pick a name (tentatively) because I recall the world containing every kind.
**Quirks**
- Z uses Bliv
- Z demoted to desk job

> [!NOTE]- **Backstory**
> Z spent twenty years as a detective in a major Falonian city, specializing in property crimes—recovering stolen valuables, dismantling smuggling operations, and serving the interests of the powerful. They were precise, patient, and effective, shaped by a system that treated ownership as sacred and rarely questioned who suffered in its defense. For most of their career, the Empire felt orderly and justified—until they were reassigned to Kelport.
>
> On the frontier, the illusion fell apart. The Empire’s violence and indifference were no longer distant, and the work Z had once taken pride in began to feel hollow, even grotesque. Years spent recovering luxuries stood in stark contrast to the suffering around them. Their break wasn’t sudden, but gradual—missed steps, quiet warnings, deliberate failures. Within the past year, that hesitation became a choice. Z walked away and began using their skills to undermine the system they once upheld.
>
> The problem is that they remember everything. Cases, decisions, the people they ignored—it all lingers, sharp and unrelenting. They discovered [[Bliv]] during a confiscation, a strange downer circulating through the undercity, and began using it simply to get quiet—just for a while. It doesn’t just numb—it disconnects, loosening the grip of memory and letting them exist without constant replay. Z doesn’t fully understand what [[Bliv]] is or where it comes from. They only know that it works.
>
> They don’t believe they can make things right. But every disrupted operation, every life they help slip through the cracks, is a way of pushing back—however slightly—before there’s nothing left of them to try.
