A town sprang up around the fort. This settlement persisted even after the military presence was gone and the fort fell into disuse. > > The role of mayor has been passed down from the original captain of Fort Daring, [[Captain Jor Rush]], to subsequent members of the [[Rush Family]]. His grandson, [[Emil Rush]], is the current mayor. > > A valuable medicinal plant, [[Blood Moss]] was discovered to e abundant in the nearby [[Illusion Woods]]. > > [[Esper Pond]] was said to be the place to find the magical creatures known as [[Espers]]. It was told that the [[Espers]] were beings of light that had great powers. No one could agree on what those powers were, or even could say to have actually seen an [[Espers|Esper]]. > > This attracted many who hoped to see and worship the creatures. Chief among them were the [[Heralds of Light]] who built a [[Heralds of Light Church|church and compound]] not too far from [[Esper Pond]]. As more and more believers arrive, [[Pond's Edge]] grows to accommodate these new arrivals, who become known as the [[Seekers of Light]]. These newcomers are treated with tolerant disdain by the bishops of the [[Heralds of Light Church]]. > > Fearing the rising power of the church, the [[Rush Family]] had the head bishop of the [[Heralds of Light]] kidnapped. Before any ransom could be paid, the [[Seekers of Light]] rose up and took control of the church for the people. > > The [[Seekers of Light]] prove to be inept at governing. As systems broke down, poverty became widespread amongst the residents. Things got more desperate as an illness begins spreading. The group of believers further splinters as a new splinter faction is created, the [[Eyes of Light]], who claim to have seen the [[Espers]] in the [[Eye Hole]] to the north. > > The [[Rush Family]] came to bring peace and help the sick with their cache of [[Blood Moss]]. Working with the artist group called the [[Blood Moss Collective]] they held a grand three day festival to help relieve tension amongst the various factions that followed the Light - [[Unity Lights]].
