Though the title sounds nice, many of the future troubles of Ferreland had seeds in this era. This time saw the arrival of the giants to the land and the manifestation of oracles among humans and giants. > >**[[The First Magic Rebellion]]** >475-483 >Undefined > >**[[The Second Magic Rebellion]]** >484-497 >A clash between man and giant over something concerning oracles. The humans were led by a cruel man named Fordham, whose son, Kamen, would go on to unite the country and be known as Ferrel. At the end of the war, Kamen struck an alliance with the giants. > >**[[Ferrel's War Against the Five Clans]]** >497-504 >Anti-giant sentiment led to a civil war amongst the clans because of Kamen's alliance with the giant's. The war ends with Kamen uniting all the clans and giants, and taking the name Ferrel. > >**[[The Golden Age of Ferreland]]** >504-709 >A long period of prosperity overseen by Ferrel and his descendants. Among other thing, it saw the building of Carthel University and the discovery of the Starplasm process. While there was great progress, there was also the return of anti-giant violence that led to their departure. > >**[[The Ferreland War]]** >710-712 --- ##### **Prologue** The [[The Falonian Empire]] set its sights on the island nation of [[Ferreland]]. They sought to exploit the natural resources including the powerful fuel called [[Starplasm]]. After building the [[Starplasm Processing Plant ]] in [[Kelport]] with the cooperation of [[Metazon]] and some Ferreland nobles, the [[Falonian Millitary]] began stepping up its pressure on the people of that town. They slowly increased their personnel and began escalating tensions. Eventually, they pushed the people far enough that violence erupted on [[The Night of a Thousand Bombs]]. > [!example]- **Merely Players** > *Kavok, Tucker, Ember, Pyre, Vance* > A bank heist involving members of the Firebrands goes wrong and a bunch of bombs are set off around the city. This is the spark that starts the war- **The Night of a Thousand Bombs**. > > [[Fiasco 04]] > Date: March 11, 2026 | Players: Nate, Travis, Alyx, Marlowe, Dann --- ##### **Act One** The [[The Night of a Thousand Bombs]] was about 9 months ago. The Emperor had his pretext to start the war and his military seized control of Kelport. Once in control of [[Kelport]], they then moved on to the university town of [[Carthel]]. Any dissenting students and faculty either fled or were executed. Those that remained were re-tasked to military research and other projects in the Empire's favor. The Empire also laid siege to the strategically important fortress of [[Blackrock]]. [[Blackrock]] had an area of control over a wide range of the surrounding land and sea thanks its artillery batteries and its huge cannon known as the [[The Giant's Gun]]. > [!example]- **Stolen Cargo** > *Amity, Imogen, Ronin, Bean* > Members of [[Garrox Squad]] ambush and hijack a military transport in the town of Gurney. The cargo was a very large supply of [[Bliv]]. > - Disrupted [[Bliv]] supply line to [[Blackrock]] > - Obtained a large supply of [[Bliv]] > - Obtained an Imperial carriage > - [[Captain Farris]] paralyzed from the waist down > > [[WDCTF01]] > Date: May 09, 2026 | Players: Ashley, Jen, Tyrone, Dan M > [!example]- **Kelp & Fire** > *Bean, Bryn, Danya, Esh, Professor Langham* > [[Garrox Squad]] snuck into the [[Starplasm Processing Plant]]. The main factory was burned to the ground in a devastating fire. The machinery for the [[Star Blood Pools]] was damaged and the captive [[Starwhal|starwhals]] were freed. The met [[Doctor Jax]] and the dog man, [[Wilson]], Jax's assistant. They discovered information on a few different programs. > - Intel on the development of a new, possibly more potent version of Bliv > - Studies into creating a synthetic Starplasm > - A procedure for reanimating the dead, called [[Blights]] > - Some limited notes on Dr. Jax's himan/animal hybrids > - Darius had the first hint of his future obsession with Wilson > > [[WDCTF04]] > Date: May 28, 2026 | Players: Alex, Emily, Nate, Stephen, Dan S --- ##### **Act Two** A year passed, and the War settled into a dreadful stalemate. The [[Falonian Millitary]] continued to hold [[Kelport]], helped greatly by alliances with some of the noble families of the city. They controlled few of the smaller towns along the eastern coast, namely [[Gurney]], [[Aluwan]], and [[Farfeld]]. [[Calaman]] also was taken and served as a convenient port for resupply. Despite these Imperial victories, they had managed little else. A ship would come bearing troops, and the Ferrelanders would fight off the latest wave, inflicting nearly as much damage as the Empire had just resupplied and repaired. [[Blackrock]] was the key. It's importance could not be understated. From this coastal fortress, [[Ferreland]] was able to control the seas thanks to its long range artillery and The Giant's Gun. It had withstood a yearlong siege. Then one cold morning, lookouts in [[Blackrock]] noticed several great black warships on the horizon. Similar reports poured into the army HQ in [[Stonecastle]] from every port and fort on the coast. This was not a resupply, or an offensive thrust into any particular area. The participants from the military and noble families were all turned against each other thanks to some ingenious maneuvering by [[Garrox Squad]]. > - [[Commander Korr]] was killed > - Viselly, Cremont, and Varent families have been pitted against each other > - Falonian Empire now suspicious of the nobles and the "Alliance of Rebellious Nobles" > - [[Lady Esbeth]] was exposed for passing on information regarding the hunt. > - [[Red Serpents]] is more upset with the Garrox Squad. Finds out about their Bliv supply > - [[Katya]]'s face is known to [[Major Korr]] - she will not have an easy time moving about [[Kelport]] > > [[WDCTF07]] > Date: June 20, 2026 | Players: Marlowe, Alyx, Amelia, Dan S, Ian > [!example]- **Things That Go Bump In The Woods** > *Bryn, Danya, Esh, Bean* > A squad of Imperial soldiers were seen marching through the forest near the Garrox Hideout. With the risk of being discovered, the Garrox who were present enacted a clever ruse to frighten the soldier into thinking the forest was haunted and dangerous. > - Of the fifty soldiers who went in, only five made it back out - thoroughly truamatized. > - Many ran off into the forest and met various ends > - [[Major Dalwood]] was killed in an explosion that was set off > - The word spread among the Falonians that the forest was to be avoided at all costs > > [[WDCTF08]] > Date: June 25, 2026 | Players: Alex, Dan M, Emily, Nate --- #### **Act Three** Another year passed. With their newly minted zombie army, the Empire started gobbling up all of the towns and cities in the lowlands. Dr. Jax was working for the Ferrelanders now though, and his knowledge allowed them to sometimes neutralize the zombies or even turn them against the Imperial forces. The Empire soon abandoned that tactic and used regular troops to take what remained. [[Stonecastle]] still stood along with all the settlements up in the mountains, including [[Stonetable]], the capital where [[King Aldric]] ruled over his shrinking kingdom. The armies waited from a final offensive push that never really came. Meanwhile, the cities and towns were getting harder to control. Resistance cells were constantly taking actions to weaken the Empire's hold and inspire the people who were becoming increasingly radicalized. For a short time, [[Kelport]] had thrown off its shackles after the chaos of the scrat hunt, though that was short lived. Strangely enough, the Empire seemed to be puling back some of its troops. On a sweltering day in July, a loud boom was heard across the land. Followed by another. Then another. And another. [[The Giant's Gun]] was firing, but in a way it had never done before- it was aimed at the cities of Ferreland. It was shooting large projectiles that seemed to be guided by some kind of magical propulsion. One by one, every settlement had one of these missiles, or more for the larger cities, crash into the town center creating a huge cloud of gas that quickly choked the inhabitants. Almost anyone who had ever been exposed to Bliv (which was a lot since it was put into the water supply of all occupied cities), was affected and turned into mindless, violent zombies called Blights. This included Imperials. They live in the mountain caves and hope to go back out into the sunshine someday. - **Amity** - Working with Dr. Jax to learn about the toxin and also a school teacher - **Ronin** - Combat and survival training - **Beau** - Running gambling and sex work with friend [[Kalea]] - **Imogen** - Kinda on her own, looks for books and documents to preserve knowledge. Takes care of snake eggs. - **Bean** - a Blight Hunter - **Bryn** - a jack of all trades, cave explorer, looking for evidence of eldritch gods - **Professor Langham** - Organizing a network of scholars, director of The New Center (although the name changes weekly and is a constant debate). Their motto is: "Ignorance is Bliv" - **Esh** - Quartermaster with a focus on equitable distribution - **Danya** - Builder due to his skills as a clockmaker/locksmith. ---
